The capital of Sri Lanka, a special welcome ceremony was organized by the Parama Dhamma Chethiya Maha Pirivena Buddhist institution for His Holiness Gongma Trichen Rinpoche and Their Holinesss the 42nd and 43rd Sakya Trizin Rinpoches. Among the assembly of Venerable monks, distinguished guests included Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the leader of Sri Lanka's opposition party, and Mr. Ram Babu Cellappa, Secretary of the Indian Embassy. In his address to the gathering, His Holiness gave a brief introduction of the origins of not only Tibetan Buddhism in general but also the history of the Sakya tradition in particular. He emphasized that regardless of which vehicle (yana) one follows, we are all followers of the same Teacher (Buddha), thus we must all respect all the traditions equally.
