Having high pressure doesn't necessarily mean you have Glaucoma. If there is not any nerve damage, than you may be somebody that has Ocular Hypertension. This then becomes important to do additional testing and monitoring for any nerve damage that might happen in the future. Intraocular pressure can be measuring a few different ways, with some ways being easier than others. There is also the possibility of eye pressure measurements to read falsely high and falsely low. This is why when there is suspicion of glaucoma, additional testing is performed to find the global picture, and make a better diagnosis. Ocular Hypertension vs Glaucoma is an important distinction to make when observing a patient. 🕒TIMESTAMPS🕒 0:00 What is Glaucoma? 1:55 What is Ocular Hypertension? 2:41 Why Measure Eye Pressure? 4:03 How accurate is measuring eye pressure? 5:54 Do we treat ocular hypertension?
