Following a screening of High Hopes (1988), the acclaimed director was joined on stage by friend and collaborator Gary Yershon, who hosted the Q&A session. True to its title, High Hopes is one of Leigh's warmest and most optimistic films. The film follows counterculture couple Cyril (Phil Davis) and Shirley (Ruth Sheen), a pair of generous pot-smoking Marxists wrestling with the decision of whether or not to have a baby.
