In 2023 we hiked the Nakahechi route of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail in Japan. We initially released it in three separate videos, but this is all three videos combined into one mammoth episode.
0:00:00 Opening - We started out in the town of Tanabe before heading to the start of the trail at Takijiri Oji.
0:18:00 Day One - We then hiked to the town of Chikatsu-yu, where we stayed the night at the guest house Minshuku Wago.
1:27:04 Day Two - The next day Thomas and Robby hiked to the town of Hongu while Bryan and Andrew took the bus for part of the way to cut off a few hours of hiking. At the town of Hongu, we stayed the night and checked out the Kumano Hongu Taisha Otorii, the largest Japanese gate in the world.
2:55:16 Day Three - The next day we briefly checked out the grand shrine of Hongu while it was raining and then hiked to Koguchi, where we stayed at the Koguchi shizen-no-ie, a building that used to be a school, and is now an inn.
3:46:03 Day Four - Finally, on the last day we hiked uphill for what seemed like forever to the Nachi Taisha grand shrine where we saw the incredible Nachi Falls and the rest of the shrine grounds.
