茨城県桜川市の真壁地区で開催されている、「真壁のひなまつり」に行ってきました。「真壁のひなまつり」は、町おこしを考える数名の住民有志からの「寒い中、真壁に来てくれる人をもてなせないか」というひと言から、「町なかにお雛様を飾ろう」という発想が生まれ、平成15年から開催されて今年で21回目を迎えます。今では100軒以上にお雛様が飾られ、観光客も約７万人が訪れるようになりました。町なかでは、伝統的な家屋や蔵の中に飾られた、雛人形や吊るし雛などを見て歩くことが出来き、町の人々からの暖かい歓迎の心にも触れることが出来ます。

I went to the "Makabe Hina Matsuri" held in the Makabe district of Sakuragawa City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The "Makabe Hina Matsuri" originated from a comment by a few local residents who were thinking about revitalizing the town, asking, "Can we not welcome people who come to Makabe in the cold?" This led to the idea of displaying hina dolls throughout the town, and it has been held since 2003, marking its 21st year this year. Now, more than 100 houses display hina dolls, and about 70,000 tourists visit. In the town, you can walk around and see the hina dolls and hanging hina decorations displayed in traditional houses and storehouses, and you can also experience the warm hospitality of the townspeople.
