What is HIRAGANA??

Hiragana is ...
used for "native" words, Conjunctions, particles, and furigana*.
(*furigana : phonetic renderings of Kanji placed above or beside the Kanji character. Furigana may aid children or non-native speakers )
It looks like this :
あいうえお、かきくけこ、さしすせそ、たちつてと、なにぬねの、はひふへほ、まみむめも、やゆよ、らりるれろ、わをん
Hiragana is the basic. We first learn hiragana in school.
Technically, you can write all of Japanese in Hiragana (that’s how the first graders write). So if you focus on speaking Japanese, it is not necessary to learn Kanji.
But it’s not very easy to read.
I t l o o k s l i k e t h i s t o j a p a n e s e p e o p l e.
Because Hiragana describes only one syllable for one letter in a square space,
it takes up too much space to write.
And because we have too many homonyms,
we "replace" words into Kanji to make the sentence shorter and easier to understand.
Historically,
Hiragana was developed so that women and people outside the court could write poetry and stories.
