HISTORY OF THE SPINNERBAIT
If there was a cooking class for catching bass, then the spinnerbait would be one of my favorite recipes. Start with one metal wire shaft. Add a jighead molded around a stout hook. Now add 1 ball bearing swivel and sprinkle in 1-3 metal blades. Garnish with a skirt of your choice. Add salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste.
Having sampled hundreds of baits from almost 100 years of bass fishing, I consider myself something of a lure connoisseur, but for me the spinnerbait is the ultimate comfort food. Whenever I get that craving, I tie on a 3/8-ounce double willow leaf spinnerbait, toss it into the broth, and wait for someone to take a nibble.
