On March 22–23, 1939, Nazi Germany annexed the Klaipėda region, an autonomous part of Lithuania with a significant German population. This was Hitler's last bloodless conquest before the start of World War II. It went almost unnoticed amid other events, such as the annexation of Czechoslovakia, Slovakia's declaration of independence, the war between Hungary and Carpathian Ukraine, the Hungarian-Slovak war, and the ultimate victory of Francoists in the Spanish Civil War. Western democracies, seeking to "appease the aggressor," abandoned Austria, Czechoslovakia, and Lithuania.
How Memel became Klaipėda and then reverted to Memel; why Ribbentrop issued an ultimatum to Lithuania; whether Klaipėda is truly a gift to Lithuanians from Stalin — we discuss in the video.

"History Without Myths" is a popular channel about the past of Ukraine and the world without embellishments and falsifications. The host and co-author is a PhD in History and leading research fellow, Vladlen Maraiev. The video's topics cover all periods and address a wide range of issues: political, military, economic history, the history of international relations, cultural history, arts and sports, and biographies of notable individuals.
The goal of our project is to debunk pseudoscientific myths, fakes, and stereotypes about Ukraine and Ukrainians; to foster public interest in history, pride for the glorious past, victories, and achievements of the Ukrainian people; to promote the consolidation of Ukrainian society; to create a positive image of Ukraine and Ukrainians; to contribute to the understanding of Ukraine's place and role in the world and the impact of global processes on our country; to spread the culture of critical thinking and skills for analytical work with information sources.

New videos on the channel are released every Wednesday at 20:00.
