Ships blowing up for no apparent reason...is more common than you might think. It's happened as long as gunpowder has been on warships. Several battleships, notably, suffered this fate in the 20th Century.
Today, we'll be looking at an *aircraft carrier* that suffered the same fate. HMS Dasher. This ship, practically brand new when she went under, caught fire. And blew up in a mysterious explosion. Exactly what caused the detonation is...still not entirely clear.
Toss in various conspiracy theories around the sinking, and you have the making of a classic mystery. If it weren't so forgotten outside of the area it occurred, that is.
