Hoko Karnegis on Nirvana Day 2025: Death and the robe

Video Not Working? Fix It Now

On the occasion of observing Shakyamuni Buddha's parinirvana in 2025, Hoko discusses Buddha's robe as simultaneously a manifestation of Buddha's eternal dharma body (reality itself) and as an everyday physical object, impermanent and subject to arising and perishing like everything else. She also explores the meaning of nyoho-e (the robe made according to the dharma of thusness) and how or whether it differs from other forms of Buddhist robes. Recorded on February 16th, 2025.
