Today I would like to explain some tricks & tips to holding back a heavy load with a team of draft horses. My wagons have no brakes on them, so when you are on a hill you need to be very careful about holding back heavy loads. If something in the harnesses break, you could be in big trouble!! I wanted to share a couple stories of times where I got into some messes when going down a hill with my horses.
