Lupe Velez's life was outrageous, scandalous, and often truly shocking. It was also one in which myth intertwined with reality. There have been so many rumors, legends, and outright lies written about her that separating fact from fiction is nearly impossible.
Part of the problem is that Lupe herself loved to spin incredible tales to the press herself. Another part of the problem is that the events of her life that were verifiably true, were some of the most unbelievable.
