Philip Strandwitz, PhD, is the Co-Founder and CEO of Holobiome. Originally from Wisconsin, Phil is a microbiome scientist turned first-time entrepreneur. He’s the inventor of many of the key technologies powering Holobiome, and is an expert in the field of the human microbiome, with a special focus on the gut-brain-axis. Philip received his PhD in Biology from Northeastern University in 2016 under the guidance of Dr. Kim Lewis, and was supported by one of the first grants in the Human Microbiome Project. His graduate and postdoctoral studies focused on culturing novel bacteria from the human gut, and unraveling how these bacteria could influence the gut-brain-axis. He has published peer-reviewed articles in top-tier journals like Nature, Nature Microbiology and Microbiome, and has presented his research at numerous microbiome and business conferences, including the New York Academy of Science and BIO.
