Today I'm making some sugar-free apple butter (sweetened with honey). My favorite thing about this apple butter for canning recipe is that you can start with apples, or just buy some applesauce and enjoy a shorter, easier process.
Apple Butter Recipe
To Applesauce, add:
1 tsp. cinnamon per quart of applesauce
1/4 tsp. cloves per quart of applesauce
1/4 C. honey per quart of applesauce.
Cook in slow cooker on low with lid partially off (or fully off) for about 8 hours. When finished, apple butter should be brown and should be able to be "mounded" on a spoon.
To can, fill half-pint or pint jars to 1/4" headspace. Process for 15 min. in water bath canner.
