Pastry 160g / 5 ⅓ oz Plain Flour 0.09p 40g / 1 ½ oz Lard 0.08p 40g / 1 ½ oz Butter 0.30p Filling. 1 Onion 0.09p 115g / 4 oz Cheddar Cheese 0.75p 100ml Double Cream 0.38p 200ml whole milk 0.12p 4 eggs 0.52p Pepper to taste 0.02p A pinch of salt 0.00p 1 Tbsp oil 0.03p Total cost 2.34 6 slices at 0.39p each Make up the shortcrust pastry. Blind bake in a 10” flan / quiche tin for 20 mins at 180c / 356f / gas 4. Then remove from the oven, egg wash the bottom and bake for a further 7 - 10 mins. Filling Lightly fry the onion over a low heat until soft. Mix the eggs, milk and cream together and combine. Salt and pepper to taste. Grate the cheese. Put the onions on the bottom of the baked quiche tray Sprinkle on the grated cheese. Pour on the gees and cream mix. Bake at 175c / 347f / Gas mark 3.
