Are you bad at wheelies on the Honda Grom? Having a hard time getting it up? This little sprocket upgrade could be the answer to your problem!
Before I get into it, I feel like the Honda Grom should have came with a 14 tooth front sprocket from the factory. I'm still no pro like Fooligan, but it makes wheelies MUCH easier and gets you into the powerband faster for reaching balance point. I upgraded my Grom chain and sprocket with a Renthal Gold (Non) O Ring chain, and a JT Sprocket 14 tooth front sprocket. I picked up these two items at DROWSports along with a chain breaker from Harbor Freight.
In this video, I show you guys how to install the chain and Sprocket on the Grom as well as review the outcome. I do a before and after review of how the sprocket affected the ability to wheelie and the acceleration of the Grom. My 0-60 mph definitely increased on the lower end but slowed down the top speed. I show you how to easily remove the motorcycle chain and install the new one. The Gold Renthal chain looks extremely strong compared to the stock chain and hopefully won't stretch out as much while popping the clutch. Overall, I am extremely happy with the upgraded Grom parts and plan on more wheelie mods in the future.
For all your Grom parts needs, I recommend checking out DROWSports. These guys were super helpful when I was decided whether to go with the 13t Sprocket or the 14t.
