This week on Backyard Builds Australia, we packed our bags and headed to Japan to check out two incredible fabrication shops: Paradise Road and Hammer Sycles. These places are legendary in the world of custom culture, and I couldn’t wait to see first-hand what makes them so special. Between the hot rods and motorcycles, this episode is packed with creativity, craftsmanship, and plenty of passion.
Our first stop was Paradise Road. If you’re into wild, Ed Roth-inspired hot rods, this shop is basically heaven. The cars here aren’t just vehicles—they’re works of art with crazy paint jobs, bold custom designs, and a whole lot of personality. Walking into the workshop felt like stepping into another world, and the team couldn’t have been more welcoming. They shared stories about their inspirations, the history behind their builds, and how they approach each project with an “anything goes” attitude. It’s all about pushing boundaries and making something truly unique, and they absolutely nail it.
After soaking in the hot rod scene, we headed to Hammer Sycles to see what they’re doing with traditional Harley-Davidson motorcycles. This place is all about timeless, old-school vibes, and you can feel their love for classic Harleys in every single build. From full-on restorations to custom jobs, these bikes are crafted with such care and attention to detail that it’s hard not to be in awe. The crew at Hammer Sycles were super generous with their time, showing us around, explaining their process, and sharing their passion for keeping Harley heritage alive. It’s impossible not to feel inspired by the dedication and talent behind these two shops
