The DC Animated Movie Universe (DCAMU) was a series of interconnected DC films that began in 2013 with Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, an adaptation of the famous Flashpoint storyline in which Barry Allen, The Flash, travels back in time to save his mother. The DCAMU concluded in 2020 with the release of Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, which featured a crossover between the Justice League, Teen Titans, and Suicide Squad. Notable characters in the universe included Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Damian Wayne as Robin, Nightwing, Starfire, and many others. However, the DCAMU was generally seen as a downgrade compared to classic DC animated films like Batman: Under the Red Hood and Justice League: Doom. Over time, sales for these digital releases began to decline. The most recent animated universe, the Tomorrowverse, concluded with the Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy. The timing of this conclusion, coinciding with the launch of James Gunn's new DC Universe (DCU), suggests a coordinated effort to unify and possibly reboot the overarching DC narrative across various media.
