Baklava is said to be around 3000 years old. The oldest recipe for the dessert probably comes from Mesopotamia. It became really popular in the 15th century and then spread to many countries, probably first in the Ottoman Empire. Today, the sweet pastry is popular in many southern European countries. With walnuts or pistachios, rolled or layered. We visited Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey and Bulgaria to find out how the different types of baklava are made.
