Magic changes the course of Heimerdinger’s life, and changes the course of Runeterra’s history as well by leading to the founding of Piltover. But his extreme views on safety, his lack of concern for the lives of his own citizens (including his own friend Viktor), and his fearful sheltered upper class lifestyle all raise concern that maybe Heimerdinger didn’t deal with his trauma in the healthiest way. Immortality causes character traits to reach extremes they ordinarily wouldn’t be able to for lack of time. With Heimerdinger, all the rules of writing immortality come into play in balancing the two sides of his central dilemma: is this a wise leader or a frightened trauma victim?
