In today’s stellar podcast we have extremely charming Amrut Deshmukh aka The Booklet Guy. Amrut Deshmukh is a Chartered Accountant by education and is the founder of the "Booklet" app. He is the first person in India who is on a mission to cultivate the habit of reading amongst the youth of India. Misson “Make India Read”.
Amrut then decided to summarize the books he reads, and share the summaries with his friends on WhatsApp. One automatically finds time to do something they love, and hence, Amrut thought of reviving the habit of reading in those who had disconnected from it, and at the same time, nurture the habit among the youth. He, therefore, set himself on a ‘Make India Read’ mission on 15th August 2015. While a few ignored his messages, many willingly went through them and responded only to read about more books from him. Gradually, his readership crossed 1000 and kept increasing. These reviews would be sent on WhatsApp, which, beyond a point, began to crash, and for Amrut, it was getting difficult to manage his agenda there. On the other hand, the number of readers was only growing, with several new readers joining him every day. He didn’t want to disappoint even a single one, and considering the growing readership, Amrut decided to launch his ‘Booklet’ app – an idea he had conceived long back – on the occasion of World Books Day this year Today, up to 17,00,000 people are connected with him on WhatsApp and 50,000 on the Booklet app. There’s so much to learn just tune in and enjoy.
