In this video I discuss my Phalaenopsis violacea which grows in Sumatra and mention Phal. bellina which is from Borneo. Until 1995, the latter was known as "Phal. violacea var. Borneo" but has since been recognized as its own specie. Bellina's leaves are thicker, more succulent and pendant than violacea. Also bellina's fragrance is sweet like violacea's is spicy.
The hybrid orchid I am featuring is Phal. YangYang Blueberry 'Blue Velvet' (YangYang New Star x violacea var. indigo). That hybrid is 50% violacea, 25% tetraspis and 25% speciosa.
Link to my video on mounting Phal, metawaiensis which is a third member of the violacea group.
