Shoutout to Hunter, who kept reeling them in.
0:09 -Thanks to Julie Taggert for the License plate frame!!
0:40 -How did I win?
1:26 My objective was to win as soon as I started to plan.
You are limited by speed limits (no tickets for me!) and scooter, so where else can you excel?
I know I’m not the best, the fastest, the top of any one category, so I have to do my absolute best in every category.
2:45 -Scooter choice, S-Max
3:39 -No extra gear on scooter, thanks to John and Carol
4:13 -Route prep the night before:
Check over scooter and refuel, perform any maintenance
4:36 Navigation:
I used Trick Tracks (thank you Scott Taggert!) & google maps
I would verify check points and bonus points, compare routes and write notes in my booklet.
I learned the hardway after day 1
You need to do your own navigating because the official route is not the fastest
Of the top 5, 4 of us for sure mis navigated, possibly all 5?
7:06 fish!
7:26 -In the morning:
No food or beverages
Bathroom, take your time, you aren’t on the clock yet
Leave at dawn or whenever ready
8:02 -During the ride:
Restart if needed
Don’t stop. No fuel (scooter setup), no food, no bathroom. I just would sip water as needed.
My butt didn't leave the seat from start to finish
Collect all the points possible. I think 49 people got all the points
10 second goal for stops at check points and bonus points, quick phone access https://www.quadlockcase.com, trick tracks target!
No music, stay focused, no wrong turns or missed turns
No crashes or mechanical issues
13:19 -Do you really want to win?
You won’t have as many scooter options, might not be able to ride the “right” scooter for you.
It’s not easy
It’s not going to be as much fun
It’s going to be more risky
15:07 Ride with me in 2025!!
15:26 The friendliest loon
17:28 The fish Hunter
