As a baker, I spend countless hours creating intricate decorations—like my delicate sugar roses, where each petal is carefully rolled by hand and veined. I love the process, but it’s always a little heartbreaking to see all that effort end up in the trash once the cake is gone 😢 That’s why I’m so happy when I can save these decorations and transform them into something more lasting, like this display cake!
While I don’t mind what happens to toppers for kids’ cakes—dinosaurs, safari animals, or bears (I’ve made plenty!)—it’s different for pieces like sugar flowers. I often get requests from brides to save them as a keepsake bouquet, so why not for a regular cake?
For this cake, I wanted to take things a step further. Instead of just preserving the flowers, I recreated a smaller two-tiered display cake, incorporating the dress that was originally on the main cake. This way, all those hours of work can be enjoyed and displayed as a lasting memory and remind the person of their special day! 😋
