Deep in the American Southwest, I finally visited a place I had marked on Google Earth long ago…What I found hidden in the cliffs left me speechless—and connected to something ancient.

---------------------------------------------

I was out on a solo adventure when I decided it was time to check out an old GPS coordinate I had saved years ago—just a random pin dropped in the middle of rugged canyon country. I had no idea what to expect… only that something about it had caught my eye from the satellite view.

When I finally reached the location, I found myself standing at the edge of a forgotten world.

Tucked away along the cliffs were hidden clues from the past—signs of those who lived here long ago. Petroglyphs, ruins, and other ancient markers, quietly enduring the passage of time, waiting for someone to notice again. For a moment, it truly felt like I was walking in the footsteps of another time—seeing through the eyes of those who came before.

👍 How to Be a Respectful Visitor
Native American groups still live in these areas today, and these places continue to hold cultural and spiritual significance.

1️⃣ Don’t climb on walls or structures. Many can be appreciated from a distance or with binoculars.
2️⃣ Do not touch the rock art. Never touch or create new marks—these are ancient stories.
3️⃣ Leave all artifacts. Removing anything is illegal and unethical. Support local tribes instead.
4️⃣ Manage waste responsibly. Never leave human or pet waste near cultural sites.
5️⃣ Camp with care. No fires near ruins or alcoves. Camp only in designated areas and pack out all trash.
6️⃣ Control pets. Keep pets away from archaeological areas to prevent accidental damage.
7️⃣ Preserve fragile areas. Stay off delicate soils and avoid disturbing fossils or rare plants.
8️⃣ Follow all rules and regulations. Don’t build cairns or use climbing gear near cultural sites.
9️⃣ Obey drone laws. Many areas (like Navajo lands and Wilderness Study Areas) strictly prohibit drone use. Always respect local customs, laws, and modern communities.
