We are living in a RV in northern Ontario Canada while we build our dream log cabin, we are off grid so naturally we use a wood stove to provide our heat for the RV. Since we are off grid we can not feasibly use electricity or propane for heating since that would be cost prohibitive! This week we decided to do a test and measure how much wood we ACTUALLY burn heating a RV trailer in Canada, how much wood we burn daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. We were actually surprised how much wood we are burning. Mostly associated to the fact we are harvesting dead standing trees for fire wood in the winter, dramatically increasing our wood consumption due to the trees while being well seasoned they do absorb moisture from the surrounding environment.
