Despite many Allied commanders being opposed to their very existence, the SAS would have an immense impact throughout the entirety of the Second World War, and to this day they remain one of the most elite military units in the world. In this video, Author Damien Lewis takes us through the origins of the SAS, and explains how it all started with a small rag tag group of individuals in the unforgiving expanse of the North African Desert.
SAS Daggers Drawn, releasing on October 24th, will be available in all good bookshops.
Damien Lewis will be discussing The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare at IWM History Festival, Sunday 24 November:
