One of the most shocking executions of the reign of Henry VIII saw his former best friend and Chief Minister Thomas Cromwell be dragged to Tower Hill. Cromwell had been loyal for many years but following the mistakes he made with the King's marriage to his fourth wife Anne of Cleves, Cromwell fell sharply from grace. He was brutally executed and his death did go wrong as it took many swings of the axe to take his head off.
