Video Not Working? Fix It Now

If you're not sure how to approach the net in tennis when it comes to direction of your approaches or the right targets, then this video is for you. I've prepared a series of videos based on approaching the net in singles, and in today's video we'll cover two main tactical principles:

- Is it better to approach crosscourt or down the line?
- Where should you aim your approach shots?

The crosscourt vs. down-the-line part of the video should be very interesting to you, since I overlaid both situations on the screen at the same time so that you can see clearly how different my ability to cover the net is in each instance.

And when it comes to targets, you'll learn a very simple guideline of where to aim your shots so that you rarely make an unforced error and yet still put your opponent under pressure.

Since this is a video about how to approach the net and not how to hit winners, that means you'll have to volley often to finish the point. If you struggle with your volleys, check out this free course that dispels 4 volley myths that could be holding you back:

As mentioned, this is only Part 1 of the series. In Part 2 we'll cover the right technique and the best footwork pattern that helps you hit very accurately in the target areas.

And I want to mention one more related video to this topic in case you haven't seen it. It's about When to approach the net in singles for around an 80% success rate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iuSdv5yeEE
