And on this video I’m going to talk about how you can become a virtual assistant even though you don’t have a BPO background, a Mentor, or an agency connections. Because I receive a ton of question from people asking for help about how to become a VA with no experience online, I’ve use this video to answer their questions. But before we go to our topic, kindly comment on this video, so that we can include you on our next G-cash raffle and win 500 pesos. So yeah, when I started becoming a Virtual Assistant wayback some years ago, I don’t have BPO background, a mentor, or an agency. I’m working for a mining company and luckily. I heared from my supervisor that theres this thing about working online as a VA. And because I was looking for other jobs back then I decided to do my own reasearch. And what I found out is that a Virtual Assistant is just like an office secretary working remotely. And theres a lot of them, there’s legal VAs, Medical Vas, Real Estate Vas, Amazon VAs, Marketing VAs etc, Funnel VAs, Admin VAs, Executive VAs. But unfortunately, just like everybody, I don’t have experience being a secretary. Because first of all, I’m a MALE. Most VA jobs are dominated by female. 1 out of 10 VAs are male and most of them are working moms. But it doesn’t mean that men cannot become VAs. Alright, the first thing that I did when I was starting is to figure out where I can find jobs as a Virtual Assistant? So I started researching and creating accounts in Upwork, Fiverr, Linkedin, OnlineJobsPH, Indeed, FreeUp, Freelancer etc. Some of these platforms wayback in the beginning was still good like UpWork and Freelancer, but right now most of the VAs from these platforms are being commoditized especially in Upwork. And you need to buy connects when it runs out. Yes, for people who are not familiar, Connects are credits you need to have in order for you to send an application or a job proposal. And it does costs money. Wayback that is not the case because you can send as many proposals as you want. I don’t know, but maybe, UpWork became greedy. Can you imagine… They are getting like 20% commission from you if your job is new, and they still want you to pay for connects if you want to send job proposals. Like its double taxation. hahaha But some are still good like OnlineJobsPH. Just be careful because I heard some of the Job Posts in Online jobs are scams. Okay, the next thing I did is I optimized my profile. Because before I just create an account in some of the well known job platforms and then thats it. But, its not enough. You need to optimized it. But how did I optimized my account? By watching over some of VAs who already did have some clients, some people who are doing a good job with their accounts. I try to understand what description they put in, what type of skill they have, and apps they know. But I did not just copy it. I learn the skill first, then I use them as my inspiration to create my own description, based on what actually I can do with respect of what I’ve learned. I just did not copy their profiles. I use them as inspiration. So you can also do it, my advise is to go to Upwork Or Online Jobs and look for succeessful VAs and then find out how they sell themselves. Then you optimize your own accounts, like Linkedin based on those pointers. And then after that… JOB SEARCHING STRATEGY The next thing you can do after you optimize your profile is to read job posts related to your skills. Applying to jobs that matched your capabilities is a YES. Don’t just apply to every job posts, apply to jobs thats related to your profile. If you’re an Executive VA, apply to EVA posts, if you’re a Social Media VA, apply to Social Media VA posts, so on and so fort. Explore and search all possible job posts in platforms regularly and apply. I know everyone of us are scared especially in the beginning, but dealing with this with courage will allow you to develop your confidence. Confidence comes from practice. And practice makes us perfect job applicants. QUALIFICATIONS… Regarding qualifications, there are so many people who wants to try this job is concerned about their educational attainment. But clients are more concerned about your skills and not your college diploma. Focus on highlighting your skills rather than your education.
