Oil, smoke and the unmistakable smell of steam and coal are the elements that drive Rolf Zimmermann and Norbert Reichert. In Öhringen, they build impressive steam train models with passion and precision. With over 500 locomotives built, they have mastered the art of engineering down to the smallest detail. Over 1,000 individual parts, from tiny screws to massive steel girders, are meticulously assembled by hand to create a functioning masterpiece.
The model makers' demand for precision and high-quality production is always at the forefront. Their guiding principle “We don't mess around” is reflected in every piece of work. Modern tools and materials help to perfect the traditional techniques. Before being put into service, each locomotive is extensively tested to ensure high quality standards. These hand-built steam locomotives are technical marvels that keep the craftsmanship of bygone eras alive.
