I'm pushing the "Leave's Coals" concept for fire building again. I've been noticing lately that leave's coals burn very hot and are long lasting even when they start off wet. I'm experimenting with just using the coals to dry out and make burn full sized fires. You simply start off igniting a handful of leaves, let them burn down enough to add another handful, and repeat. It doesn't take very long to dry and burn multiple handfuls of wet leaves while also building a large hot bed of coals. These coals can start some of your most stubborn smalls, mediums, and larges.
