Loose Boulder Structures (LBS) are the speed breakers and the strainers of watershed management. When built strategically on brook, stream, nallas, gullies and rivulets, the LBS slows down the pace of flowing water and stops top soil from flowing further downstream. Thus, the LBS not only aids percolation of rainwater but also prevents erosion of fertile top soil. Its very name suggests how this watershed treatment is built—using loose boulders.
