A few months ago we had a benefit clinic for an injured farrier and Riley did a demonstration of how to build Hot Fitting Tongs. Using this method is essentially the same way to build any kind tongs except you just alter the way you forge the jaws. He used 3/8"x3/4" mild steel to build these tongs to give people the option to build them out of stock most people have on hand or easily available.
