Note: Overseas visitors, if your contactless card doesn't work or if your card issuer charges you a fee, then it is best to buy the Oyster card. Don't buy a paper ticket unless that is the only journey you will make because the single journey paper ticket costs much more (maybe even double) than if you had used a contactless or Oyster card (travel fares are the same for Oyster card or contactless card). Another benefit of using an Oyster card is that if there is a problem you can go to the staff at the station. They can check and give you a refund or make the appropriate manual correction. If you used a contactless card to pay, then you'll need to contact your bank to sort out the problem.
