In this episode I will flush and change the DR650’s brake fluid using both a manual bleeding and vacuum bleed methods. I will show you the tools required, and the steps involved to get all the air out of the systems and get a firm feel at the lever.
I will also explain the four main components of a motorcycle brake system and talk a bit about the types of brake fluids on the market and why you must pay attention to what you use, don’t worry, Ill also let you know how to determine what type of fluid your ride uses as well.
Once the fluid is changed out, I will show you how to remove and reinstall new brake pads on the DR650 and we will look at these components in a bit more detail on the bench. I will also talk a bit about braking in your new brake pads once you’re ready to ride.
