Crack/corrosion on lower end unit
Corrosion on engine block
Bad compression
Knocking or loud clicking when started
Other Items:
External inspection
Check prop for damage
Lower end unit oil leak
Lower end unit oil level
Thrust rod present
Cowl cracked or damage
Trim lifts smooth
Tiller handle turns smooth
Tiller handle damage
External gas hook up bent or cracked
Low engine oil [4-stroke]
Dirty engine oil
Shifts smooth
Choke and throttle smooth
Hard to start
Misses when accelerates
