Ultimate Pool Filter Cleaning Guide: Save Money and Keep Your Pool Crystal Clear! a Step-By-Step guide showing you everything you need to know so that you can do this yourself and make sure it's done right. And....Save a bunch of money.
In this video I will walk you through each step so you can confidently clean your pool filters yourself and explain some things along the way. I'm confident I'll answer any questions you'd have and point out some tips & tricks that I've found myself. I enjoy doing this myself because it helps you get outside, get to know your pool pump system better and keep an eye on everything since you'll need to probably clean these filters or cartridges a couple times a year. And if you're doing this yourself and have paid for someone to do this in the past, you already know how much money you'll be saving.
First step ALWAYS is to turn your systems power OFF. This is to ensure that the pump does not turn on while you have everything opened up and it does not start to pressurize the canister with the filters until you're ready.

Next step to always pay attention to is opening up the pressure relief valve at the top of your tank, this allows all the air to escape and make sure your pressure gauge reads zero. Once you have all the air out, you also won't hear it coming out the valve, you can move on down to the plug at the bottom of your filter tank and unscrew the large plug. Once you have this opened out you'll be able to release all the trapped water and some of the debris that's sitting in there. This again makes sure the filter container is de-pressurized and safe to open.
The next step before the fun part of spraying off all your filter cartridges is removing the metal band/strap that wraps around the two piece filter container. This is usually a 7/8" nut and a deep socket can do the job fast. Loosen that up and remove the assembly from the threads and you should be able to take the strap off of your filter container.
**Making sure power is off while working on the system is essential***
**Making sure the system and Filter Container is de-pressurized is essential**
