This pattern was a happy accident!
I downloaded a free Viking Hat Pattern with 2 weeks to prepare for a friend's surprise birthday party. I worked so much that the night before the party I realized I hadn't even started his hat. Then it occurred to me, if I could adapt it to bulky yarn, as opposed to worsted weight yarn, I could make it in a fraction of the time.
It turned out great! I even ran out of one color grey yarn and had to make the brim accent with a silver yarn, which ended up looking even better than just one color!
This is a step-by-step 'how to crochet' tutorial. You don't have to know how to crochet to make this hat, you can learn as you go.
