I describe and discuss the available procedure in SPSS to detect outliers. The procedure is based on an examination of a boxplot. SPSS can identify two different types of outliers, based on two different inter-quartile range rule multipliers. Neither multiplier (1.5 and 3.0) is ideal, however, with a bit of extra work, you can calculate an outlier based on the 2.2 multiplier.
