How to Enlarge RC Plane Plans Free and Easy Method
In this video I will go over how to enlarge RC plane plans to full size via a free and easy method you can do at home, with no special equipment required.
All radio control (RC) model aircraft are constructed from a set of full size plans. There are literally thousands of these construction plans available via the internet, but the question remains how to enlarge these RC plane plans, as they are printed out on normal printer paper.
In this video I will go over the factor method of enlarging the plans. Simply take a measurement on the smaller plan you printed out, determine what the full size part would be and use a multiplication factor, across the entire plan, to draw a full size set of plans.
This is an ideal method for RC beginners to build an RC airplane from scratch. The foam board build makes construction go a lot quicker as opposed to balsa.
As an example I I will use the plan for the Real Thing sport flying RC airplane, published in the Aug 1973 RC Modeler magazine. I will make my version with a 30 inch wingspan and electric power. Full construction of the Real Thing video is below.
