You don't want to annoy your mixing engineer with badly exported tracks that don't line up. If that is the case, your mixing engineer can not know when each of the tracks should start. In this tutorial, I'll walk you through the process using Logic Pro, but don't worry if you're using a different DAW (Pro Tools, REAPER, Cubase, Studio One etc...) – the principles apply across the board. From labeling tracks to exporting rough mixes and handling special cases like effects and MIDI instruments (Drum or Bass), I've got you covered. So I am considering exporting files and sending them to your mixing engineer a crucial skill for music producers. Just as important as recording great-sounding files. PS: You export Multi-Tracks to a mixing engineer, not Stems! Per definition, stems are processed audio tracks, and Multi-Tracks are the raw tracks of a recording session. And don't be that music producer who sends the mixing engineer pre-processed files (unless for special FX).
