This video shows how to correct a negative grade towards your house. This customer had a deck in this space at the back of their house for many years. They removed the deck to be able to see what the grade was like under their house.
Unfortunately, the grade was sloped towards their house and was allowing water to flow towards the foundation. This doesn't always fix water issues in your crawlspace or basement because of many other factors like a cracked foundation, poor/clogged guttering, high water table, etc...But it can make a difference in helping the water flow away from the house!
This is what I have always known and what I found on the internet to be the proper grade:
"The recommended grade away from a foundation is typically a slope of 1 inch per foot for the first 5-10 feet away from the house, meaning the ground should drop 1 inch for every foot you move away from the foundation, ensuring water drains effectively away from the building."
