In our third "How To" video, we will explain 2 different ways of folding the Hakama and making the knot.
The first method is the most common in Aikido, the one we use here. We will see 2 variations for the knot, the standard one, and the one we do here at Seido. We will show the knot from 2 different angles.
The second method is more traditional. It's very close to the formal way of folding the Hakama, as performed outside of the martial art practice context.
Adapted for storing your Hakama, this way is not very handy to carry an Aikido Hakama (for two reasons, first the Aikido Hakama tends to be quite long, and the straps are longer tha on a formal Hakama, so the knot is not really adapted to such long straps).
There is no "best", "official" or "standard" method in Aikido (unless your group/dojo has its own rule, of course), so we are just presenting those methods as tips to help you find a way to fold your Hakama.
