Alright welcome back everyone for part 2 of my how to install a gas heater in a shop series. In part one I got the heater hung and all the electrical ran. So in this video I will be running all the 1” gas pipe from where it connects outside to the back of my shop where it connects to my heater. After the pipe was installed I used my air compressor to put 15-20psi on the whole system to check for any leaks. My original plan was along with getting all the pipe ran was to also get the 4” vent pipe installed, and get it inspected so I could get it fired off, but half way through covid made its way through my household which delayed my process forcing me to end this video with just installing the gas pipe. So stayed tuned for part 3 where I’ll be getting my air leak inspection, installing the vent pipe, firing this heater off, and giving an overall review of this heater.
In the video I used a pipe threader to thread some of my custom cut pieces, but with careful planning you could do this whole install with store bought nipples, and I actually used some in a few areas so don’t let not having access to a pipe threader slow you down. Although i’m certain you could rent one. For all my connections I used blue monster brand pipe dope and teflon tape to make all the connections air tight. It’s important when selecting teflon tape and pipe dope to insure it is rated for gas connection.
