▶ Check out my gear on Kit: https://kit.com/Birches The Yamaha FZ-09, FJ-09, MT-09 and XSR900 seems to be plagued by a faulty cam chain tensioner. I first noticed loud "ticking" sounds within the first year coming from the left side of my engine. I bought the APE Pro Series Manual Cam Chain Tensioner after reading up on the issue online and it seemed like the best option. I brought the bike to my local dealer to have them install and they were uncomfortable doing the install. They advised I replace the tensioner with the new updated part from Yamaha. It would also be free. Unfortunately, only a few months back into the riding season I started to experience the same symptoms. With Tom's help, we cracked open my engine for the first time and installed the APE Manual Cam Chain Tensioner. Disclaimer: I am not the most technical, or informed motorcycle mechanic. I did research on the install utilizing the sources below and tried my best. The purpose of this video is to provide an honest representation if the install by an average guy and help you avoid some of the silly problems we encountered.
