In this video I’ll show you the tips on how to install the underlayment, or base layer, for any torch down roofing system. Usually the base layer for torch down roofing will either be a glass base or Polyglass’s Elastobase. In this video I’m installing Polyglass’s base sheet. 0:00 Intro 0:14 explanation 1:25 getting started laying down your glass base roll 1:52 nailing pattern and type of nail to use 2:40 overlapping two pieces of underlayment 4:19 installing underlayment on a parapet wall 5:41 final notes on installing underlayment on a flat roof Please note that torch down roofing is dangerous and should be installed by a licensed professional. Using an open flame can pose a fire risk and therefore must be handled carefully. Keep all flammable scrap and debris at least 10 feet away from the building. A fire extinguisher is needed within 50 feet of anywhere where more than 5 gallons of flammable or combustible liquids or 5 pounds of flammable gas are being used on the job site. No one on a job site can be more than 100 feet away from a fire extinguisher at all times. There must be at least one fire extinguisher for 3,000 square feet of work area.
