Fair Isle knitting or stranded knitting, is an ingenious colorwork technique that allows you to knit with two or more colors to create stunning patterns. It's a super simple technique that boils down to dragging the unused yarn along on the wrong side, creating so-called floats. Traditionally, you only knit it with 2 colors per row and never bridge more than 4-5 stitches.
In this tutorial, I am not only going to show you how to knit fair isle the continental way, I will also show you how to knit with a knitting thimble. I will show you all the different ways to catch floats when using a knitting thimble the continental way, how to knit it in the round and how to knit Fair Isle flat.
There's also a section on the best yarn, how to read colorwork charts, and a section on advanced patterns like Fair Isle with three colors or knitting ribbing. A special focus is on tensioning methods because that's where most knitters have the biggest problems.
