The ladder back jacquard technique is a truncated form of double knitting that can be used for stranded colorwork projects where you have big blocks in one colors that bridge more than 4-5 stitches. Instead of catching floats, you create a little double-layer on the wrong side that anchors the floats and keeps them from snagging. This ladder is utterly invisible on the right side and only creates two anchoring stitches at the beginning and the end.
