► How to clip, trim and grade seams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNJo7KBIfqQ
There are lots of different ways to line a waistcoat or vest sewing pattern and not many videos so i decided to check with my good friend Anne on her preferred method. Anne worked at the Glyndebourne opera house and she taught me the traditional tailoring method they used at the opera house so i thought I'd share it with you, my lovely subscribers, because it worked really well for me.
First you sew the front to the corresponding lining right sides together along the neckline, armhole and along the bottom leaving shoulder seams and side seams open. Clip, trim, turn through and press.
Next sew the backs together at the centre back seam then sandwich the fronts between the two backs positioning in the correct place for the seam allowances and sew all the way around leaving a gap in one of the side seams.
Clip, trim, turn through and finish by hand sewing the gap.
It worked like a dream and was a lovely neat way to finish the waistcoat or vest.
